But even he couldn’t hide his big surprise at the song choice of a teenage girl during the singing competition. “What, really?!” was his reaction when he heard which song 17-year-old Lanya Matthews would sing.
Lanya confidently introduces herself to the audience in the British talent show “X-factor”. The jury also includes Robbie Williams (Take That) and Louis Tomlinson (One Direction), and she told them that she would sing the song “I’m telling you I’m not Going” by Jennifer Hudson.
Simon was extremely surprised at the choice of songs of the girl from London and said “What, really?!”, when she announced her choice. It’s a powerful song and it’s hard to follow in Jennifer Hudson’s footsteps.
But let me say this: Lanya knew exactly what she was doing.
The teenager explained to the judges that she had made the adult decision after a year of hard practice. Now she was completely done and would make herself proud with her beautiful song.
It is absolutely worth seeing how Simon regrets his words and so does the entire jury member.
